In Frozen Mommy, the dancers inhabit a bare stage space and deftly lead the viewer on an elliptical journey, bringing together in close proximity snippets, dances, words, and elements of great disparity. Imitating the magpie strategy of human thought processes, the dancers' actions accumulate and combine over the course of the work, to create a funny, disturbing and strangely familiar vision.
— Tere O'Connor has been making dances since 1982 and has created over thirty works for his company. 2006 marks the 20th Anniversary of Tere O'Connor Dance. The company has performed throughout the US and in Europe, South America and Canada. O'Connor has created numerous commissioned works for dance companies around the world, among these have been works for Mikhail Baryshnikov's White Oak Dance Project; de Rotterdamse Dansgroep, Holland; Carte Blanche, Bergen, Norway; Dance Alloy, Pittsburgh, PA; as well as a solo work for Mikhail Baryshnikov entitled Indoor Man. The Lyon Opera Ballet premiered the commissioned piece entitled Like Two Kevins in September 2006. O'Connor is a recipient of numerous awards and grants; he is a recent recipient of a Foundation for Contemporary Performance Art Award, a National Dance Project Award, and Arts International's DNA Project Award; he has received three New York Dance and Performance "Bessie" Awards - One for Heaven Up North in 1988, another in 1999 for Sustained Achievement, and most recently for his work Frozen Mommy in 2005; he received a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship in 1993; and has been funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, Rockefeller Foundation/MAP Fund, The New York Foundation for the Arts, Jerome Foundation, amongst others. O'Connor has taught extensively in the US and abroad and was recently appointed full professor with tenure in the dance department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This appointment is comprised of one semester of teaching with the rest of the time devoted to research with his company in New York.
— Hilary Clark has had the pleasure to dance with Tere O'Connor since 2004. Her interpretation of this art form has been influenced and inspired by many experiences and people. In New York since '98, she has been investigating process and performance with many artists and choreographers, some of who include Fiona Marcotty, and presently Larissa Velez and Luciana Achugar.
— Erin Gerken holds a BFA in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, and was the sole recipient of the university-wide Phi Kappa Phi Scholarship. Erin began dancing with Tere in 2001. She is honored to be part of a process directed by someone she deeply trusts, and thankful to be working with this group of artists who both inspire and challenge her.
— Heather Olson has been working with Tere O'Connor Dance since 1997. She grew up in Chicago and received her BFA in Dance from North Carolina School of the Arts (also in 1997). In addition to her work with Tere, Heather has been working with Yanira Castro + Co. since 2000; and has also has the pleasure of dancing with Jennifer Allen, Ashley Smith (Red Dive), Donna Uchizono, and Levi Gonzales. Her own work has been presented through Danspace Project's Food for Thought Series, Bill Young's GorillaFest, and Galapagos Art Space's Catch Series.
— Matthew Rogers grew up in Glocester, Virginia. He recieved his BFA in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2003. Matthew has been dancing with Tere O'Connor since 2004 and teaches Pilates in Brooklyn. He also performs in his own choreographic works as well as those of Jack W. Fever and PearsonWidrig/DanceTheater.
— Christopher Williams is a dancer, choreographer, and puppeteer, based in New York City. He is a graduate of both Sarah Lawrence College and the École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris. He has since danced with Tere O'Connor Dance, Douglas Dunn & Dancers, John Kelly, Risa Jaroslow & Dancers, Yoshiko Chuma's School of Hard Knocks, Wendy Rogers, the Eliza Miller Dance Company, and Rebecca Lazier's TERRAIN, among others. He has also performed in the award-winning puppet works of Basil Twist and Dan Hurlin. His own works have been presented both locally in many New York City venues, and internationally in the Casa del Teatro Nacional in Bogoté, Colombia. He has collaborated with Colombian visual artist, Rosario Lopez, composers Peter Kirn, Gregory Spears, David Griffin, and Ivan Jiménez, choreographer Kindra Windish, and members of the internationally renowned vocal ensembles, The Anonymous 4 and Lionheart. He received a Bessie Schönberg Memorial Endowed Fellowship for a residency at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program in 2002, and has since held residencies at the Joyce SoHo, Dance New Amsterdam, The White Oak Plantation, Yaddo, and The Yard. In 2005 he won a New York Dance & Performance "Bessie" Award for his work Ursula and the 11,000 Virgins. He currently serves on the Artist Advisory Board for the Danspace Project, and lives in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. A long-term goal of his is to taste over 300 different French cheeses.

Note: Cash only at the door. We regret we cannot yet accept checks or credit cards.
For those who need a lift, we will offer a FREE shuttle bus leaving from the Rensselaer Armory horseshoe @ 7:15pm. The bus is by reservation only. If you make a reservation for the shuttle bus when you call or submit our online reservation form, you will need to show up by 7:10 @ the ARMORY horseshoe. Again, the bus WILL LEAVE promptly at 7:15pm in order to get over to WMHT on time. After the event there will be 2 waves of buses back to the Armory, one leaving @ 9:20pm and the last one leaving @ 9:45pm. honk!
