Detail View: Campus Perspectives

This series provides a platform for Rensselaer professors and researchers to share in-depth perspectives on their fields of inquiry. Inviting an exchange of ideas on campus and providing a window into a singular vision, these events are geared toward experts and non-experts alike.

Using biological polymers as construction material, Rensselaer Architecture professor Zbigniew Oksiuta will present his research on creating biological living habitats and projects developed by his students.

Talks are always FREE.

talk

Form, Processes, Consequences

Tuesday, February 14th, 12 PM

Can life processes, which normally take place on the scale of proteins, acids, and saccharides, happen on a large scale? Zbigniew Oksiuta’s research explores the possibility for biological processes to occur on an architectural scale.

A Biological Future?

Thursday, April 12th, 12 PM

In the context of his research on living biological habitats, Professor Oksiuta will present work developed by Rensselaer Architecture students in his Human Habitat as Biological Living System design studio course.
