The Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center has wrapped up the first season in its celebrated new facility - and what a season it was: more than 170 productions, festivals and projects in just eight months!
From the gala opening, which drew more than 23,000 people over three weekends, through the diverse array of public presentations that followed, attracting another 16,000 attendees, EMPAC offered experiences to wow audiences and critics alike.
Though there are no public events over the summer months, there still will be plenty happening in the Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center. During this pause in its public schedule EMPAC will continue to support artists in residence, giving them the time and resources to create and refine new works.
These artists will join a roster of past residencies that includes the Australian dance group BalletLab, NYC-based dance and video artist Cathy Weis, extended vocalist Yvon Bonenfant, Belgian collective Workspace Unlimited and LA-based composer Sean Griffin, among others.
In September, EMPAC will kick off its program of public presentations, performances, installations, talks and events.
Be sure to stay on top of all the activity by signing up for the EMPAC email blasts. You can also join us on Facebook and Twitter.
Our Artist and Scholar/Researcher in Residence programs are now accepting applications on an ongoing basis.
The DANCE MOViES Commission supports the creation of new works in the field of experimental dance for the screen.
