King Britt

Philadelphia-born and Pew Fellowship recipient King James Britt (his given name) has spent over 30 years advancing electronic music on a global scale. As a composer and producer, King’s career includes collaborations with a wide array of artists and creators, including De La Soul, Madlib, John Legend, and director Michael Mann (Miami Vice). His remix portfolio is equally diverse, ranging from James Brown and Solange to Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa. Most recently, he teamed up with MacArthur Fellow Tyshawn Sorey for their acclaimed album project. As a performer, King has appeared at thousands of venues and festivals, including Summerstage (NYC), Berghain (Berlin), Big Ears (Knoxville), Le Guess Who (Utrecht), and Public Records (NYC). He was the original DJ for the Grammy Award-winning group Digable Planets. King Britt is a professor in computer music at UC San Diego.
