Lazyhorse

Comprising award-winning composer and visual artist Raven Chacon, vocalist and guitarist Miriam Elhajli, lap steel guitarist Steve Hammond, bassist Mali Obomsawin, and the experimental music duo The Living Earth Show (guitarist Travis Andrews and percussionist Andy Meyerson), Lazyhorse is an EMPAC-commissioned project and band whose sound can be described as haunting, expansive, improvisational, and direct, blending organic grit with ambient clarity. Conceived over three residencies at EMPAC beginning in fall 2024, the music unfolds patiently, built from layers of texture rather than traditional song structures—an elemental drift through space and memory.
