Brett Fajen

Brett Fajen is a professor of cognitive science and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in the School of HASS at RPI. He conducts research on perception and action, with a focus on the visual control of locomotion in complex and dynamic environments. He studies a variety of problems within this area, including the perception of affordances, self-motion, and object motion, and the control of steering, interception, obstacle avoidance, and foot placement during walking over complex terrain. He has a BS in mathematics from Bucknell University (1993) and a PhD in experimental psychology from the University of Connecticut (1999). From 1999 to 2001, Brett Fajen did a post-doc at Brown University prior to joining RPI.
