Amadeus Julian Regucera
Regucera joined EMPAC in September 2022.
For the TOPOS Music Festival, he commissioned new projects from Miho Hatori (Paris Syndrome), Raven Chacon & The Living Earth Show (Lazyhorse) and Sarah Davachi (The Rose Dialogues & Interludes). He previously commissioned and premiered a new work of experimental music theater with composer Rama Gottfried with Yarn/Wire (Ontopoiesis); composer-performers Antonia Barnett-McIntosh and Jessie Marino (Susceptible Chambers); engaged King Britt, Sarah Hennies, Conrad Tao, Charmaine Lee, and others; and curated Reembodied Sound 2024, a two-day festival and symposium on transducer-based music and sonic art, co-presented with Rensselaer Department of Arts. The symposium and festival drew 189 proposals; included a remounting of David Tudor’s Rainforest IV with John Driscoll and Phil Edelstein; and a keynote address by sound art scholar and composer Cathy van Eck. In 2023, Regucera curated a two-year partnership with The Living Earth Show for production residencies to develop four works with lead artists Raven Chacon, M. Lamar, Ellen Fullman, and Sarah Hennies with Terry Berlier.
Regucera’s music compositions have received presentations and premieres around the world. Regucera holds degrees in Music from University of California, San Diego (BA) and University of California, Berkeley (PhD).
